The Postnatal
Coping with the arrival of a new baby can be challenging especially if you have had an unexpected birth experience, if you have limited family support or if you have other small children to cope with as well.
Hospital based postnatal care in Ireland is minimal with most mothers leaving hospital within 1 – 2 days after giving birth and at 3 days after caesarean section..
At one day postpartum your milk has not even come in yet so most mothers feel that they benefit from some sort of continuing care in the early days with their new baby.
Postnatal doula care usually starts when you come home from the hospital or when your home birth midwife discharges you.
I offer two different postnatal doula options with full lactation support from an accredited International Board Certified Lactation Consultant included as part of the postnatal doula service.
