Choosing to undergo postnatal doula training with me can be a transformative and rewarding experiences:

I am a working doula in Ireland today. One of the key strengths of my postnatal doula training course is that I am a  doula currently working in Dublin today. So I share up to date information from my own constantly evolving practical experience.

Expertise and Experience: I bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to my postnatal doula training programs. As a seasoned doula with a deep understanding of the postpartum period, I offer invaluable insights, practical skills, and evidence-based practices to empower trainees in supporting new families during this critical time. I have attended over 250 births in Dublin and I have supported 1000’s of families in the postpartum period. I am also an established trainer and facilitator with decades of experience in education learning and in designing high quality courses and learning materials.

Comprehensive Curriculum: My postnatal doula training curriculum is comprehensive, covering a wide range of topics essential for providing effective postpartum support. From newborn care and breastfeeding assistance to emotional wellness and community resources, trainees receive thorough preparation to address the diverse needs of postpartum families. It is also specifically designed to cover al the aspects of care and support that will be required in an Irish context. Most important of all it is up to date, based on my continued practice as a doula and postnatal doula.

Holistic Approach to Support: I emphasize a holistic approach to postnatal support, recognizing that the needs of new parents extend beyond physical care to include emotional, psychological, and social well-being. Trainees learn how to provide holistic support that nurtures the entire family unit, fostering resilience, confidence, and empowerment during the postpartum transition.

Hands-On Training and Mentorship: Through hands-on training and mentorship from me, trainees gain practical experience and confidence in their abilities as postnatal doulas. Whether through simulated scenarios, role-playing exercises, or real-world case studies, I provide guidance and feedback to help trainees refine their skills and approach.

Evidence-Based Practices: My postnatal doula training is grounded in evidence-based practices and current research in maternal-infant health. Trainees learn to incorporate the latest evidence-based interventions, strategies, and resources into their support services, ensuring that they offer high-quality, informed care to families during the postpartum period. I am one of Ireland’s most trusted birth advocates and campaigners for improved maternity care and I have been involved in securing many improvements in the care mothers receive in the postnatal period in Ireland. I am often asked to contribute to conferences, committees and policy development

Empowerment of Postpartum Families: By offering knowledgeable and compassionate support in both postnatal doula care and lactation support, trainees empower postpartum families to make informed decisions about their breastfeeding journey and overall postpartum experience. This empowerment fosters confidence, resilience, and positive outcomes for mothers and infants.

Postnatal doula training with a lactation consultant provides trainees with a unique opportunity to acquire comprehensive skills, knowledge, and expertise in supporting postpartum families, particularly in the critical area of breastfeeding support. This integrated approach enhances the quality and effectiveness of care provided by postnatal doulas, ultimately benefiting the health and well-being of mothers and babies.

Unlike other postnatal doula trainings this training offers two qualifications. It offers both a Postnatal Doula Certification and also a Lactation Doula certification preparing you to offer postnatal support with confidence based on knowledge and training. I am an International Board Certified  Lactation Consultant with nearly two decades of experience supporting families in their  breastfeeding journey which enables her to offer an integrated approach to postpartum support.

Integrated Support: My dual expertise as a postnatal doula and lactation consultant allows for a more integrated approach to postpartum support. Trainees can learn how to seamlessly incorporate lactation support into their doula services, providing comprehensive care to new mothers and infants.

Comprehensive Skill Set: By receiving training from a knowledgeable professional in both postnatal doula care and lactation support, trainees gain a comprehensive skill set that enables them to address a wide range of needs and challenges faced by postpartum families.

Breastfeeding Support: Breastfeeding is a crucial aspect of postpartum care, and working with a facilitator that is an IBCLC allows postnatal doulas to offer valuable breastfeeding support to new mothers. Trainees learn how to assist with breastfeeding initiation, positioning, latch, troubleshooting common breastfeeding issues, and also how to provide  emotional support during the breastfeeding journey.

Promotion of Successful Breastfeeding: Postnatal doulas trained by a lactation consultant are better equipped to promote successful breastfeeding outcomes among their clients. They can provide evidence-based information, practical guidance, and encouragement to help mothers establish and maintain breastfeeding goals.

Early Identification of Breastfeeding Challenges: Training with a lactation consultant enables postnatal doulas to recognise early signs of breastfeeding difficulties and intervene promptly to address them. This proactive approach can help prevent breastfeeding problems from escalating and improve overall breastfeeding success rates.

Collaboration with Healthcare Providers: Postnatal doulas trained by an IBCLC can collaborate effectively with healthcare providers, including lactation consultants, midwives, nurses, and pediatricians, to ensure comprehensive care for postpartum families. This collaboration facilitates seamless referrals and continuity of care, enhancing the overall support network available to new mothers.

What do the doulas I have trained say?

“Krysia is an amazing Doula. She became my mentor and teacher when I joined her doula course last year. Her course taught me so much about the birthing process, the anatomy of the birthing person and the Irish maternity system. Above all she showed me how to be a great doula with a successful business and how to believe in myself. Krysia has an abundance of knowledge and skills that she shares so generously. She is a very skilled instructor but also kind insightful and supportive. I cannot recommend her highly enough as a tutor, mentor and instructor.” Jenny Woods @jen.clabbywoos

“I had the pleasure of participating in Krysia’s doula training in 2019. I took part in the course throughout my 3rd pregnancy and can say that I thought it was the most important gift I’ve ever given myself. The care, compassion, and community created for the duration of the course (and beyond) were and are so empowering and uplifting, it was the perfect way to embark on a new departure in becoming a doula. Krysia as a tutor created such a supportive, fun, energetic and sharing space that the days went by so quickly and it felt at times we would burst with knowledge and excitement. If you are considering joining the next doula training with Krysia, stop thinking and just do it – you really won’t regret it. Enjoy!” Fiona Fenton

I had the honour to train with Krysia to become a birth doula back in 2019. Krysia’s wisdom, deep compassion, respect and reverence for this sacred right of passage is why I chose to study with her after two years of researching trainings. This is a time I will always cherish for my own transformation and for gifting me the tools to be able to offer this sacred work in the world. @SIneadlucia.love
